Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy
The Academy was established in October 2005 (although a GTI school has been in Truro from 1993) and teaches traditional Tae Kwon-Do merged with modern self-defence and advanced yoga techniques. We train in a disciplined but fun environment that welcomes students of all abilities from age 5 upwards. As a not-for-profit Academy, our monthly fees are the lowest in the local area. We are here to build confidence, to improve health and fitness and to develop the skills that will protect out students from violence, bullying and intimidation.

We are part of a network of schools known as Cornwall Tae Kwon-Do, which was established in 1974 at RAF St Mawgan. This is the oldest Tae Kwon-Do group in Cornwall (one of the oldest in the UK) and continues to provide the original Tae Kwon-Do training that has become so famous across the world.
We teach the traditional ITF style of Tae Kwon-Do, similar to the TAGB, as the Instructors have a TAGB background. There is no sine wave in our patterns as we teach the traditional Tae Kwon-Do that General Choi created and released to the world in 1955, which uses the powerful and realistic hip twist.
As of 2009 we are in partnership with Camborne Tae Kwon-Do Academy under the name Kernow TAE (Kernow Tae Kwon-Do Academy of Excellence). Visit www.camborne-taekwondo.com for more information.

Truro Tae Kwon-Do Academy is a member of Global Tae Kwon-Do International, which was established in 1993. The GTI provides access to seminars, specialist training courses and many competitions throughout the year. The organisation also guarantees that Truro students grade under a panel of Tae Kwon-Do experts and Masters at both coloured belt and black belt level, meaning that our grades are well-earned, credible and formally recognised.
