Summer Camp - 25th to 28th June 2010
In total 59 people attended our summer camp at Polly Joke near Newquay. We were blessed with incredible weather so were able to train right across the weekend, with morning sessions in the camp site field and evening sessions on Polly Joke or Crantock beach, which all ended in the sea. There was a real variety of Tae Kwon-Do training from traditional to modern knife defence and all sessions had a great fun element with plenty of games like water pistol tag, ‘save the whale’, pirates and sea warriors. Mr Liam Broderick would like to thank everyone that made this such a great weekend and is looking forward to an even bigger and better summer camp in 2011. Students who trained on every session gained 2 merit points and others that attended some of the sessions got 1 merit point.

In total, 123 medals were awarded to competitors from the Global Tae Kwon-Do International schools in Camborne, Newquay, Truro and Exeter.
Liam Broderick, who organised the competition says, "a big well done to all the students that competed and raised so much money for Sport Relief. Tae Kwon-Do training should involve giving back to your community and this was a great way that we could raise money for such a worthy cause, whilst taking part in a fun and rewarding day. I would like to thank everyone that got involved and also Truro Leisure Centre for their fantastic support."

River Life Day - 6th March 2010
Students from Kernow Tae Kwon-Do Academy of Excellence joined up with the Supedads group in Camborne for a River Life Day at Tehidy Country Park. The event leader was Liam Broderick, local Tae Kwon-Do Instructor and Environment Agency ecologist, who introduced the children and adults to the diverse variety of aquatic invertebrate life inhabiting the Tehidy Stream and the various lakes and ponds within the park. Liam states, "2010 is the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity and I was very keen to recognise this with an ecology-based event for adults and children alike, which would get them thinking about the importance of working to protect our precious diversity of life. Tehidy Country Park is a very popular visitor spot but so many people there were unaware of the vast amount of life that lies just below the surface of the rivers and ponds. We worked to identify many different freshwater invertebrate groups for example, freshwater shrimp, mayflies, caddisflies, snails and leeches, but the favourite of the day was the golden-ringed dragonfly nymph, with the children loving its ability to breathe through the anus and use this as 'jet propulsion'! I would like to thank Tehidy Country Park and the Supedads group for helping to make this event possible."
